Art Windows Services supplied and installed a set of 10 triple glazed tilt&turn timber windows and a timber door set with a fixed window in the house located on Edenham Way, the area known as The Cheltenham Estate in London. The windows and door set were approved by London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council as applicable and appropriate for the building listed as Grade II.
The timber windows are energy efficient and soundproof which is extremely important to comfort of everyday life in the area where the level of noise produced by trains coming by is high. The windows were designed and manufactured “like to like” the existing windows to keep the original look of the listed three storeys house and avoid the impact on the appearance of the building such as highly reflective glazing and visible spacers.
This is the third house in this area where our excellent wooden products found their owners. First and foremost we are happy our triple glazed tilt&turn timber windows were approved for the houses located at The Cheltenham Estate, a highly significant example of post-war British housing, designed by Ernö Goldfinger for the Greater London Council (GLC) and completed in the early 1970s.
The Cheltenham Estate comprises two key elements: listed as Graded II Trellick Tower built 1968-72 and the adjacent low Edenham Way Estate, built 1972-73 and listed at Grade II in 2012. The Estate originally included an Old People’s Home which was demolished in 2008. Ernö Goldfinger is a designer of 27-floor Balfron Tower and the adjacent eleven-storey Carradale House in Poplar, East London which served as models for the 31-floor Trellick Tower. These buildings are examples of Brutalist Architecture.
